September 2017 Meeting

Our next meeting, on Sep. 11th, will include a session of Restorative Yoga with a local yoga instructor.  “Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body.”  Our instructor will bring props and yoga mats for us to use, but you can also bring your own mat if you have one.  Please wear comfortable clothing and prepare to leave feeling relaxed, like you’ve just had a nap!  Just 30 minutes of Restorative Yoga can feel like the equivalent of 4 hours of sleep!  I challenge you to find a mama that would NOT benefit from this!

June 2017 Meeting

What are the most important challenges we face as parents? Our children bring us much joy and love. They also erode the edges of our sanity with their antics – climbing, jumping, shoving in ALL of the food, etc.! In our charge as parents we are tasked with the love and care of our children. Providing a safe environment is challenging at all ages. We can arm ourselves with some essential first aid training for responding to all the bumps and bruises of childhood distributing Band-Aids and kisses. But what about those may-never-in-a-million-years-happen incidents? Are you ready to respond to an accident that results in a person’s breath stopping?

Let’s learn to do that together June 5th, 7-9 pm at our monthly meeting at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church (12099 Lowell Blvd, Broomfield). CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is a lifesaving procedure that is done when a person’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. This may happen after drowning, suffocation, choking, or an injury. CPR-Professional’s will be bringing a non-certification course to our Club. They will also be fielding our first aid and safety questions.

May 2017 Meeting

Does keeping your kids busy take up all your time? Would you like to learn some fun new ways to keep your kids occupied and learning and having fun? Join us May 1st for Sherri MacLean’s presentation.
Sherri will be sharing some ways to help keep your children
independently busy and learning on their own, while also preparing them for Kindergarten and older. She is a home-school mother of 4 children and started writing books to help her own children learn and develop independent skills.  She will also have with her some examples of hands-on activities that you can make at home for your children.

She has written 20+ books to help families at home with kids of all
ages. Most of them will be on display at the meeting and at the end of her presentation, she will hold a drawing so one lucky mom can win a book of her choice to take home that day. You can check out her website at: www.SherriMacLean.com.

February 2017 Meeting

Bumpers on crib rails and catchers on sippy cups,

Chewy chilled teethers and soft soled sneakers,

Video monitors set up on spy mode

These are a few of my favorite things…..

So mommas what are your favorite things? We’ll have a show and tell style meeting to showcase all of our favorite things: one for surviving your children’s current stage and one for you!

One of my favorite things is tea with friends, sharing my hopes and dreams, and tricks for surviving over a warm mug so we’ll have pots of hot water. Bring a mug and a favorite tea to share.

We’ll also have a presentation by our KSS Board Members. To help as all get ready to tag and sale, volunteer and shop! Seeing everyone’s favorite things will help round out your list of things you might not even know you’ll need yet!

Join us at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church on Monday Feb 6th from 7-9pm. There will be a new member chat at 6pm.

December 2016 Meeting

The Holiday Season will be upon us soon! No wait. Scratch that. The Holiday Season is HERE! YIKES ? We sincerely hope that you will all be able to take some time to join your fellow Darling Double’s moms for a little celebration. Join us December 5th at 6pm at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church for a Kwanzaa themed celebration. Kwanzaa is a colorful celebration of seven basic values which contribute to building and reinforcing family, community, and culture. Does that sound a little bit like Darling Doubles?

I spent several years living and working in West Africa and the expression of family as embraced by communities in this culture is that ALL women of your mother’s age are you ‘mothers’. My home village was truly a place in which the entire village participated in raising the children – myself amongst the children would be scolded for returning home later than expected (and heaven forbid after dark!) or for being out in the rain, or for not taking breakfast, or for not being married…. Here in Colorado Darling Doubles is my village and I derive strength and support from my fellow moms and I want to celebrate our family, our community and our unique culture as a tribe of women with multiples.

We’ll provide a festive environment and dinner. We’ll also be hosting a gift exchange. If you would like to participate please bring a wrapped gift valuing approximately $15, please no gift cards. The gift should be something that whoever ends up with your gift will appreciate (something classy and useful, aka nothing tacky please). Please RSVP so we can plan appropriately for food. Also there will be no new member chat at this meeting.kwanzaa-usa

November 2016 Meeting

November Meeting:  Community Give Back Event

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”  -Gandhi

Darling Doubles would like to invite you to participate in our annual November give back meeting on November 7, 2016 at 7pm.  This meeting will take place at A Precious Child (555 Burbank Street, Unit M Broomfield, CO 80020). As an organization, we will be making the Precious Gift Tags to hang on the various Christmas trees around the Denver Metro area.

A Precious Child is devoted to making a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged and displaced children and families in Colorado by improving their quality of life.  During the holiday’s, A Precious Child collects the top three wishes of children in need and they partner with various organizations and individuals to fulfill each child’s holiday wish!   Last year alone, A Precious Child handed out over 10,000 gifts to children and families in need.

In addition to making the gift tags, we will also be collecting coats and winter clothing of all sizes.  A Precious Child is in desperate need of coats (both children and adult sizes) as we head into the winter months.  Please consider going through your coat closets and donate what you will not use to A Precious Child.  After all, 1 in 6 families in Colorado are living below the Federal poverty line.

**Due to the location of this meeting, childcare will not be available.**

October 2016 Meeting

We’ve all been there…. The INTERNET! Be it Facebook or Pinterest or Scary Mommy we find ourselves searching for, laughing at, and sometimes trying some new gadget or trick to make our lives easier. Sometimes we even get crafty and turn that old piece of junk into a shiny new thingamajiggy magically turning an ordinary item into our new motherhood lifejacket. On October 3rd, 7pm at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church we invite you to bring your favorite Mom Hack for a show and tell with your fellow twin moms. Pool noodles are hitting the clearance rack! Wait did I say pool noodle, I meant magic length of foam tucked under a bedsheet that keeps my kid from falling out of bed four times a night AND for so much less than a bedrail!
