April Club Meeting
Winter Doldrums Begging for More

Monday, April 2, 2012
7:00 pm
Are your kids bored with the doldrums of winter? Are you looking for some ways to spice up play time?
April’s presentation will give you a wealth of ideas and activities for your children at their ages. Find out how to help your children not just play, but beg for more.
Our presenter will be Shelly Coffey, mother of 2 and Parent Educator. Originally from NY, Shelly is happy to call Colorado home for the past 20 years. She is a Parent Educator at Growing Home in the Parents as Teachers program. PAT is a children’s program that provides home-based parenting support for families with infants and toddlers.
Growing Home is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping children succeed, housing the homeless and feeding families as well as homeless prevention services, children’s programming, parenting support, a food bank, community garden, wellness medical van and affordable housing. Shelly has a love of children that extends past her own and a passion for educating and helping parents provide the skills to help their children succeed and have good experiences in life.

March Club Meeting
Car Seat Safety
Monday, March 5, 2012
7:00 pm
How often do your kids ride in the car? Are you sure they are safe?
This presentation will talk about basic child passenger safety best practices for every age and stage of childhood. Additionally, we’ll discuss Colorado law, the case to rear-face and booster seats.
Our presenter will be Susan Yates. Susan has been a nationally certified child passenger safety instructor for over 14 years. As an Emergency Medical Technician, Susan decided early in her career that she would rather focus on preventing injuries instead of assisting with the aftermath. Also noteworthy: she is a mother of 4 children, ages 3 to 13 (which she affectionately refers to as her own private focus group). She currently works for Children’s Hospital Colorado as the Training Coordinator for the Colorado State Child Passenger Safety Program, which is a cooperative effort of Children’s Hospital Colorado, the Colorado State Patrol and CDOT.

February Club Meeting
Love and Logic – Avoiding Power Struggles
Monday, February 6, 2012 @7pm
Dads are encouraged and invited to join us! This will be a 2 hour presentation
Tonya Lewis has been teaching the ‘Becoming a Love & Logic Parent’ program for over 7 years. She was trained by the creators of the program, Jim Fay, Foster Cline & Charles Cline. She created this “Avoiding Power Struggles workshop after numerous requests from parents to just “give me the basics”.
In addition to teaching Love & Logic, she is also a substitute teacher, wife and mother of a 14 year old girl. The combination of teaching & parenting a teenager gives her LOTS of opportunity to practice her Love & Logic Skills!
In this fun and interactive “Avoiding Power Struggles” workshop, we will cover how to remain calm in times of stress, how to quickly and effectively put an end to arguing, how to use choices to eliminate power struggles, how to get chores & homework done without a hassle, and more. If you’ve ever wished you could put the FUN back into parenting you won’t want to miss this workshop!
The Stilettos 2010 group is responsible for snacks for the February meeting.
*New Members Chat (for new moms, expectant moms and all other interested members) starts at 6:00pm.
