Chocolate Friendships

Though women are constantly surrounded by people (their families, coworkers, fellow shoppers, etc.), many are living lonely lives. In Chocolate Friendships we examine why friendships are vital to the emotional health of women, the levels of friendship, and why it is so difficult for the modern woman to pursue and maintain friendships. We also look at strategies for keeping relationships active and healthy in our busy world.
Jamison Durbin is a part-time writer, speaker, jazz vocalist as well as a full time mother of four (Timothy-19, Tommy-17, Johnathan-16 and Jenny Girl-14). She is a graduate of the School of Women ’s Ministries and was a member of the MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers) program for ten years. In 1997 she started a new MOPS group in her home church, Centennial Covenant, where she was the coordinator until the spring of 2001. Jamison’s humorous speaking style has been enjoyed at women’s’ groups and retreats since 1996.

Putting the Pieces Together

Congratulations Darling Doubles members! We defended our title at the Race for Fetal Hope as the twins club with the most club members in attendance! We will be getting a free dinner at our January meeting so please join us for an early start at 6:15 pm.
Then we have a fantastic speaker—Jami Kirkbride. Jami’s presentation will be packed full of colorful examples, practical tools, and a relatable style, that will spur any listener toward growth and change. Whether struggling with workplace relations, personal acceptance, parenting, marriage, or other relationship issues, you will walk away from her presentation with a renewed sense of hope, clarity, and the desire to make the most of every opportunity. Jami’s experience and training can help you to:

Saturday, Dec. 5 , 10 am—12 pm
Join us from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. at the Cross of Christ Church for the annual family holiday party. This year’s theme is Winter Wonderland and will include a variety of crafts and games for all ages. Santa will make an appearance for pictures and will pass out a token gift (provided by Darling Doubles) to each child. We will also have nibbles, including bagels and cream cheese, smores “by the fire,” cookies and fruit. Hope to see you there!

Gift Exchange

December brings back one of our favorite meetings: our Darling Doubles annual gift exchange. This evening is so much fun with lots of friends, laughs and competition! The gift snatching can get ruthless so be willing to part with your gift in exchange for something even better! Please bring a gift at or under $15. Dinner will be provided.

Limited Childcare Available for December Meeting
We’re going to try to have childcare at the December meeting on a limited basis. If you need childcare, please contact Susan Shuyler (303) 466-6079 or shuyler.family@msn.com as soon as possible. We hope to find an adult and a couple teenage volunteers to help from 6:30-9:00. You will be contacted a couple days before the meeting to confirm whether childcare will be available.

Operation Christmas Child Details
We are also assembling our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child at our November meeting. Darling Doubles will pay the $7 shipping and handling fee and will deliver the boxes to the processing center. Your small group is responsible for the shoe boxes (you can buy plastic ones at the Dollar Store) and the gifts to go inside. If you or your family is putting together shoeboxes you can bring them to the meeting and they will delivered also.

Saturday, October 24, 3:00—5:00 p.m.
Join us for a night of spook-tacular fun! This annual tradition has a little twist this year. Our little ghosts are going to trick-or-treat at decorated tables. We will have snacks and brew, games and prizes to raise our spirits! Parents are encouraged to decorate a table with all of your witchy finds including pre-wrapped candy to hand out (or beware terrible tricks may await.) We will also have a costume parade to show off all our little goblins. Please respond to the Evite invitation below so we know how many people to expect.
The party will be at Cross of Christ Church located at 12099 Lowell Blvd., Broomfield. Come a little early to decorate your table!

North Metro Community Services

We had a slight change of plans last month so we switched some meeting topics around, moving the September topic to October. So this month we are pleased to have a representative from North Metro Community Services and one of their therapists talk to our club. They will speak about the services they provide and how a child can qualify, as well as normal developmental milestones for young kids and signs to look for. North Metro Community Services was organized by a small group of parents for children with disabilities in 1964. They have evolved into a not-for profit agency dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons of all ages who are developmentally disabled or delayed and who live in Adams County, Colorado, excluding the City of Aurora. North Metro is one of 20 Community Centered Boards in Colorado dedicated to serving this population. They are the single point of entry in Adams County for persons with developmental disabilities or delays.

The Swimsuit Lesson

August Club Meeting—Getting to Know You

Please join us at 7 pm at the regular meeting location, Cross of Christ Church, for our “Getting to Know You” social hour. As we start off our new year, we would like to take the time to get to know our fellow twin moms a little bit better. We will be doing some fun ice-breakers, and then we will break up into small groups. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, as well as make some new acquaintances.
