Love and Logic – Avoiding Power Struggles
Monday, February 6, 2012 @7pm
Dads are encouraged and invited to join us! This will be a 2 hour presentation
Tonya Lewis has been teaching the ‘Becoming a Love & Logic Parent’ program for over 7 years. She was trained by the creators of the program, Jim Fay, Foster Cline & Charles Cline. She created this “Avoiding Power Struggles workshop after numerous requests from parents to just “give me the basics”.
In addition to teaching Love & Logic, she is also a substitute teacher, wife and mother of a 14 year old girl. The combination of teaching & parenting a teenager gives her LOTS of opportunity to practice her Love & Logic Skills!
In this fun and interactive “Avoiding Power Struggles” workshop, we will cover how to remain calm in times of stress, how to quickly and effectively put an end to arguing, how to use choices to eliminate power struggles, how to get chores & homework done without a hassle, and more. If you’ve ever wished you could put the FUN back into parenting you won’t want to miss this workshop!

January Club Meeting
Monday, January 2, 2012, 7pm – Happy New Year Meeting!!
Start 2012 off right with learning about money management and college savings for your kids!!
Rebecca Hoyt has been an accountant for 25+ years. She is a Certified Financial Counselor and does personal financial counseling. In addition, she is a facilitator for Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University and teaches the class multiple times thru out the year.
She will be speaking to Darling Doubles about Kids and Money – from teaching toddlers the basics to readying your young adults for the real world. Some of it will encompass Dave Ramsey’s lessons from FPU as well as other info.
Kaylynn Hemlock works for College Invest. She will be speaking briefly about 529′s, what they are, how to start them and why they are important.
Dad’s are always invited to our meetings, but this is exceptionally GREAT one to bring them to!!
The hiking boots small group is responsible for snacks at the January meeting.

Christmas Party

Benefit For Natalie
Join Us to Benefit the Family of Natalie Osborn

In July of this year, two-year-old Natalie Osborn was diagnosed with a brain tumor in a rare location on her brain stem. Please join us for this benefit dinner for the Osborn family. All proceeds go to the Osborn family to offset medical expenses.
Dinner to include: Spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert, non-alcoholic drinks
$10 adults / $5 children
Tickets will be available for many locally donated raffle prizes.

October Club Meeting & Halloween Party
Mom, What’s For Dinner?

Our October meeting is one not to be missed! Do you have a picky eater? Do you have questions about what you should be serving your child at different ages?
D Byerly works for Kids Nutrition Company which is a company based with the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program to ensure in home child care providers are serving nutritious meals with much variety in foods!
D will come with ideas to help us all at different ages and different stages!
In addition, Esther Isom with Operation Christmas Child will speak briefly about this program, what it is about, how it got started, what we can (and cannot) put in our shoe boxes, etc. We will be filling these boxes as one of our many community outreach programs at the November meeting.
The Barefoot 2008 group is responsible for snacks for Oct meeting.

July Ice Cream Social

Dang rain, we are trying for the shine!! The Ice Cream Social has officially been rescheduled for Monday, July 18th…same time, same place. NO RAIN!!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! Come to our annual Darling Doubles Ice Cream Social. Your spouse and kids are welcome! The social will be held at the Ranch Park, 11899 Tejon Street, Westminster. Please note that we’ll begin at 6:00 pm and we’re meeting a week later this month due to the 4th of July holiday.
Please RSVP to helen@darlingdoubles.org with the number of people attending so we can get a ice cream count! This event is held instead of our regular monthly meeting. There will not be a New Member Chat this month. See you there!
